Gummy Bear Lab

Now it is time to do the last step in the scientific method-- COMMUNICATE YOUR RESULTS!
1. What was your hypothesis? Was it correct? Why or why not?
2. Which change was greater for your group volume or mass? Explain
3. Was there a change in the density of your bear? Why?
4. Share anything else you would like us to know about your bear or your experiment.
5. Your initials or your first names (no last names please!)

1. Our hypothesis wasn't correct. We thought to gummy bear would shrink.
2. Volume had s greater change. Volume had a change of 10 cm3 and our mass had a difference of 6.2 grams.
3. There was a change of .1g/cm3 in density. Day 1 had 1.3g/cm3 and day 2 had 1.4g/cm3.
4. Our bear was huge! And it tasted gross. Like watery jello.

1. yes our hypothesis was right. We thought that it would get bigger and it did.
2. The volume was bigger than the mass. the difference in the volume was greater.
3. Yes it changed, and the bear got less dense. It got less dense becaause it was in the water over night.

*Our gummy bear was named Ladis-lav!

1. Our hypothesis was correct because we said it would get bigger and mushy and gushy and thats what happend.
2. The volume changed by 10cm and the mass changed by 3g so the volume changed more.
3. Yes there was because the volume and mass changed.
4. When we picked it up out of the water it slipped out of our hands and splatted on the groung and fell apart so it was kind of hard to answer the questions.

1. Yes our hypothesis was correct because we guessed that it would expand and it did.

2. The volume's change was greater because the difference was 7.77 for volume, and the difference for mass was 5.1.

3. Yes there was a change in th density. Our density was less after it expanded, and we can't really explain that.

4. Our results our basically the same as our classmates(length, width, thickness, volume, and mass), but most of our classmates' bears' density increased while ours decreased.

1. Our hypothesis was that the gummy bear would get bigger because the water would expand it. Yes our hypothesis was right because the gummy bear got bigger and when we ate it, it taste like water.
2.for our group it was the volume that changed the most because the water made it bigger so the volume became bigger.
3.yes by 10.5 grams. we think it changed because everything got bigger so then the density got bigger.
4.the name of our bear was Freddy and he was the cutiest thing in the world and he kicks gummy bear world history and we loooooooooove him more than any other owner of a gummy bear and we didn't eat ours because we are awsome. Jordan ate ours and he said ours was digcusting but freddy isn't because he is the best gummy bear in the world.

1.Our hypothesis was correct because it did get mushy but we did not predict for it to get bigger.
2.The volume was because it had a bigger difference then the mass.
3.Yes because both the volume and mass changed.
4.It tastes bad.

2. Their change was the same.
3. Yes because the water was sucked up
4.Our bear was really big and tasted lie jello

1)Our hypothesis was not correct, we thought that it would get a lot smaller and it ended up getting bigger.
2)The volume changed more than the mass but only by a little.
3)The density changed by 0.01g/cm3
4)Our resuls are almost identical to hannah and malyun's

1) our hypothesis wasn't correct , & we thought that it would desolve .
2) the volume had the greater change , because it got bigger so the bigger it gets the more space it takes up .
3) yes , because our mass & volume changed by the more space that it took up after it got larger .
4) yes it changed , & everyone else's changed too . & it got less dense .

1) Our hypothesis was right, we said the gummi bear would grow and get squishy because it absorbed the water.
2) Volume had a greater change, there was more space than matter in the new gummi bear.
3) Barely, the change was .16 g/cm3 beacuse all it did was absorb more water.
4) Ours was the same as our classmates.

2. Our volume changed more. Volume changed by 8.45, and mass changed by 5.6
3. Yes, our density was less. Because the volume & mass also changed.
4. Mr. Gummy was tiny.. THAN BAMMMMM OVER NIGHT HE GOT BUFF!

1 our hypothesis was correct because we said that the water would enter the bears molecules causing an increase in volume an size.
2Our volume had a greater change then the mass because it increased by 8.5 but the mass increase by 6.3
3there was a change in the density because the volume increased more then the mass so it density per square cm decreased
4 It was squishy and yellow

2.The volume b/c volume=6.44 and mass=6.4 it was .04 more than mass.
3.Yes .B/c the volume and the mass change so the density change too .

Taylor & Maddy - Questions

1. No, our hypothesis was not correct. We didn't think the gummy bear would change at all.

2. The change in volume was greater. There was a volume change of 8.92 cubic cm. and a mass change of 5.5 grams.

3. There was a change of .01 g/cm3. Day one was 1.3 g/cm3 and Day 2 was 1.31 g/cm3.

4. The comments I've read have had similar results.

cherokee& cathy said...

1. Our hypothesis was completly wrong. it was "It was going to disolve in water."
2. The mass changed the most because the water molocules moved into the gummy bear.
3. The density was greater because there was a greater mass.

1.Yes our hypothesis was correct because it did grow.

2. The mass was bigger because the water filled up the bear and then made it have more stuff.

3. Yes because the mass changed and that makes the result of the density change as well.

2. The mass had a bigger change for us. The volume had a change of 5.005. The mass had a change of 5.4.

3. The density had a change of .12. The water probably got absorbed into the gummy bear.

4. The bear was big and slimy.

cherokee& cathy said...

1. no our hypothesise was wrong. we thought the gummie bears would desolve.

2. mass had a greater change. ( v=4.8 M=5.2)

3. yes, because the mass and the volume (which control density) changed. it decreased.

RANDOM STUFF: Our gummie bear lost a leg. POOR STEVE! He got really buff though.

1.Our hypothesis was correct we guessed he get bigger on Halimo's paper.
2.The volume was greater because even though it got bigger the mass still never changed
3.There was a change in density because when we first got it it was a different weight now the weight is less.
4.The bear's name is Yummy Gummy and she's ten

Our hypothesis was the gummy bear would dissolve. Our hypothesis was incorrect because the gummy bear expanded instead of what we thought dissolve. Mass was the greater change because the mass change was 6.1 while the volume change was 6. There was a little change in density because it went from 1.05g/mL to 1 g/mL. Our bear's name was Phylis Wylis.

1. Our hyphothesis was wrong. We thought that the color of the gummy bear woild disappear.
2. volume had a greater change. our volume change was 5cm3 and our mass was 5.1 grams.
3. Yes there was a change in density. The gummy bear was less dense after sitting in the cup for the whole night. It was less dense because it stretched out and had more space.
4. Our density decreased like joe and cheyenne. Both of our volume and mass increased.

thats it :D

1. Half of our hypothesis was correct. We thought it would turn the water red, and desolve, but it only turned the water red. In fact, it grew bigger!
2. The volume is greater. The volume changed by 6 and the mass changed by 5.4. Therefore, the volume was greater.
3. The density didnt change because the volume and mass changed at the same rate.
4. Our bear was pretty big and it looked like the rest of the bears.

1. Our hypothesis was incorrect. We thought it would disolve in water.
2. Volume changed more than the mass did. The volume had a change of 14 cm3 while mass had a change of 6.3g.
3. The density lowered as it got bigger. As it got bigger, the volume got bigger and the atoms were less packed together.
4. Our gummy bear got really big.

1.we thought it would shrink but it got bigger. we also said the color would fade into the water and it did so we were kinda right but kinda wrong.
2. the volume changed more because it soaked up water.
3. yes, because the mass changed so the density changed because mass is part of density.
4. the other classmates had similar answers but not exactly the same.

1. We said the gummy bear would shrink size and dissolve. Our gummy bear expanded in the fresh water.
2.Our volume increased more to be seven times larger,. Meanwhile the mass quadrupled.
3.Our density changed with decrease. The water reduced the density and the mass and volume had different changes.
$ The bear became softer.
